WWE Open 2012 is being held in Kalajoki, Finland on 15.-18.3.2012. The arrangements are going on with full speed and it looks like we’re going to get a great event with lots of action!

Disciplines are STS (Short Track Slalom), Course, Kite and Kitewing

The main organiser of the event is Perämeri WindRiders ry (PWR), in co-operation with Rautio Sports.

World Ice and Snow Sailing Championship 2012 in St. Ignace, Michigan, USA

This International event is being hosted in the USA for the first time in over 17 years!

The 2012 event will run from February 20-26th, in St. Ignace, Michigan, USA.

STS WISSA 2011, Denis Kleshenok (RUS) and Ossi Pöllänen (FIN) racing hard

WISSA is the ONLY world event where wings, kites and sails all compete together on snow or ice, slalom and course. This event, which is the oldest event its type, will be celebrated for 32nd time right here in the United States.

The World Ice and Snow Sailing Association (WISSA) event is the longest running international competition in the history of windsurfing. It’s also the most prestigious winter sailing event in the world. Held every year since 1980, the event location alternates annually between Europe and North America. This year it will be held in the 3rd oldest city in the U.S., St. Ignace, MI which was established in 1671.

The best athletes in these thrilling adventure sports will meet in one city for an entire week. In addition to racing, champions and beginners alike will be able to interact in a variety of WISSA activities.

WISSA ”pre race” / WWEC
There will be Kitewing racing, (not only training, as mentioned in some info) during the WWEC competitions held 26-27.2, right before the WISSA competition at the same location. There are both course and slalom events scheduled. There is no better way to tune in for the WISSA competition, so do not miss this opportunity.
The idea is to run Slalom races weak wind < 5 m/s (on skates) and course racing in stronger winds (on skis). Nordic skates are awailable for rent on site by Saimaaholliday, for those who need this service.

Kitewing spareparts
Kitewing Sports will have a comprehensive collection of spareparts awailable during the raceweek, all partisipants are offered spareparts at dealer price during this time. Partisipants are also offered the opportunity to pre order parts, the parts can then be collected at the venue. Any pre orders should be sent by e-mail to martin.finell (at) kitewing.com no later than 21.2.2011

2011 Ice and Snow Sailing World Championships

The 31st WISSA world championships will take place from the 25th of February to the 6th of March 2011 in the Lake Saimaa region in Finland. The categories compeeting in the worlds are Kitewings, Kites and Winsurfing sledges, the different categories compeet in several disciplines. The official website of the competition ( http://www.wissa2011.org/wissa2011/ ) is now up and running and all relevant information will be posted there in due time.

No changes in the top three after 5 races, but thesituation at the top is really close

Aloha Ice Challenge 2010

Haapsalu (Estonia) 05.03 – 07.03

Haapsalu is the host of this year European Winter Windsurf Championships third event. During the first weekend of March (05.03 – 07.03) competitors from all around northern Europe gather to compete in winter windsurfing disciplines. At the same time and place also Estonian championship in winterwindsurf is going to take place, so a weekend full of fun and racing is to be expected.

This year is going to be especially interesting because of the heavy winter which has brought loads of snow and ice. It is expected that instead of getting your feet wet there might be even too much snow.

And to make things more interesting, not only windsurfers are expected, but kiters, kitewingers and also people ready to compete on kicksledges (open for everyone).
